Fellow delegates,

Pakistan recognizes that terrorism has become a critical matter on the Afghan-Pakistani border, worsened by the trafficking of drugs which has financially funded terrorist groups in the region. We would like to make it clear that Pakistan has been stepping up its efforts against terrorists, and is now in the forefront of the international war against terrorism. As the opium production has become critical to the funding of many terrorist groups, Pakistan recommends the establishment of UN led social and economic development efforts in the border regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan to provide alternatives to the current poppy farming which supports terrorist groups. Pakistan encourages nations against terrorism to vote in favor of our resolution. Please offer any comments, suggestions or questions. thanks

Pakistan for Peace! =)

Fellow delegate, the delegate of Japan has a question for you.
To drug traffic, is there a certain committee you are going against? What do you intend to do to ensure the drug problem is fixed?

The delegate of India is interested to know what actions Pakistan will make in order to fight and prevent terrorism, since the Talibans groups are directly affecting India by crossing the Line of Control, and committing human rights violations against the Kashmiri as well as helping militant groups.

India is in favor of Pakistan resolution since it is attempting to prevent terrorism, but still remain skeptical about solving the issue in Pakistan and therefore ask for clarifications.

Does the delegate of Pakistan agree that high rate of unemployement can be a cause for terrorist groups' creation?

Peace in Asia!

To the delegate of Japan,
Pakistan is going against the drug traffickers on the Pakistani-Afghan border since they are excessively selling their products to terrorist groups, which later sell much of the opium produce to purchasers outside of Pakistan and Afghanistan, most likely in Eastern Europe. We intend to provide a wider range of alternatives of legal economic resources to be sold, therefore benefitting the rights of the people rather than war... this will reduce traders' associations with terrorist groups.
thanks =)

Will this NGO act just on the Pakistani border with Afghanistan or will it actually spill into the Afghan territory? If so, Afghanistan must give its consent to the Pakistani delegation to directly influence my country and my people? I find that very unlikely to happen...

What would you change its agricultural-based economy from poppy production to ...?

To the delegate of Afghanistan,
the delegate of Pakistan meant to say "UN led development efforts". we propose that the UN extends the concept of the UNMOGIP program to include border patrol along the Pakistani-Afghan border to prevent and monitor illegal drug and weaponry smuggling that fund and arm terrorists. we therefore propose a UN Charter between Pakistan and Afghanistan based on the agreement of a monitored border, not intervening within your territory.
thanks

To the delegate of Japan,
no, Pakistan is not willing to legalize drugs, but is trying to provide a wider range of alternatives for traders to export, to reduce their relations with terrorists... in other words, we are trying to reduce drug trafficking.

To the delegate of India,
Yes, the delegate agrees that high unemployment rates may be part of the reasons of the illegal funding of terrorist groups. our main request is:
- the implementation of UN peacekeeping troops to aid Pakistani troops in the efforts to locate Taliban and Al-Qaeda militias hiding in the havens on the Afghan-Pakistani border
Pakistan is pleased to hear that India is in favor of our resolution... terrorism is surely a threat to international security. we'll leave our other solutions for caucus debate! let's keep the heat down for now bom

Salam delegate of Pakistan!
after long arguing with the other delegate of Pakistan in relation to the drugs and the terrorism in the border of the two nations, Pakistan and Afghanistans came to the conclusion that fighting about who to blame will not help eradicating the problems. There is no reason to only ponit out the corrupted sections of both countries and not doing anything about it. We must end corruption together. It is also a fact that the drug trafficking is a consequence of terrorism, therefore if both nations put all the effort against terrorist groups, drug trafficking will also diminish. We are allies in this war fellow Pakistani delegates! إله يبارك أنت

http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20081001faessay87603/barnett-r-rubin-ahmed-rashid/from-great-game-to-grand-bargain.html

Check out the latest issue of Foreign Affairs and it's article on how best to end the chaos in Afghanistan and Pakistan and fight the war on terror. Talk about an almost impossible task. I finished the article and I have to confess I sat back in near despair and thought about how hard it would be to actually get this area under control. But I am comforted by how many times in human history we have met challenges that seemed insurmountable and made good out of them.

Happy reading,

Garrettchi ;-)

The delegate of India would like to express our greates interest in Pakistanīs resolution. Despite of our disturbed relation in other issues terrorism is a major threat to the world, therefore we support Pakistan in this issue despite of the one who submitted the resolution. Terrorism is a common cause that the whole world community should hold hands to fight! Together we can fight it. kisses.

Salam fellow delegates of India and Pakistan!
Afghanistan truly believes that if both nations work side by side in the war against terrorism, the issue will soon be solved. Pakistan and Afghanistan are already working together in the war against terrorism and drugs. If more nations join this fight, the better it will be. Keep in mind and maintain the agreement signed in July 2008 by the Asian nations such as Japan, China, South Korea and Southeast Asian nations as a whole, willing to fight terrorism and poverty in the region.
